"Demon" is such a challenging term. It's hard to get a grasp on what they truly are. Oft times these inhuman spirits look just like us, only something is just a bit... off. Maybe they look too perfectly symmetrical, or their nose is a touch too long, or maybe their eyes glint yellow in the moonlight. Other times...they are so obviously anything other than human, and the mere glimpse of them out the corner of your eye fills you with unholy dread.
