There have been many tales told about Cupid (Eros) and Psyche. Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis is a notable one. But, her windswept tale with Eros isn't all there is to her story. In fact, it is just the beginning.
She became a goddess in her own right, one of the few mortal humans to be granted a sip of ambrosia from Zeus's goblet, imbuing her with immortality. As she became goddess of the soul, her symbol became the butterfly. Representing how humans might metamorphize their soul, to ascend.
