Hel

Hel is the half-beauty, half-corpse daughter of Loki and Angrboða. She was cast down into Niflheim, because someone somewhere told the gods that she and her family were t-r-o-u-b-l-e. But they gave her a realm to rule, and she planned to eventually use that realm, and all the souls in it, to rise up and destroy the gods who had scattered and tortured her siblings. In the god's attempt to delay Ragnarök, they created a self-fulfilling prophecy that Hel would take full advantage of.

Hel and Loki had a special relationship. She was his only daughter, so there was some bond there that she couldn't quite explain. She just wished sometimes her father wouldn't be so chaotic, so <i>Loki</i>.

She was the go-between for her family members for as long as she could remember. Hel knew Loki tried to be a good dad. Hel knew he loved his children, and he would have done everything he could by them, but it wasn't enough. She didn't blame him for it, knowing of the circumstances that stood in his way. She had worked very hard to forgive him and accept him as he was, but Fenrir, her brother, would not. So, Hel was stuck in the middle of Fenrir and Angrboða who refused to talk to Loki. And poor Jörmungandr, who was cast into the ocean before he learned to talk, hardly even remembered his father before everything happened. Everyone thinks Jörmungandr ate his own tail as he was too big to fit in the ocean and there wasn't enough food for him. Hel, on the other hand, thought that he sucked on his tail like a pacifier, to self soothe. Therefore, Hel is the only one who would talk with Loki, and for Loki on his behalf. She saw both sides of this family drama. She was born with this ability and continued to use this talent of hers until hopefully, one day, Ragnarök would resolve their issues.
