Mermaids

Mermaids are not only in the oceans of the Netherworlds. Mermaids will make homes in ponds, lakes, rivers, swimming pools, and even sewers if the circumstances are right. Depending on the breed, they can still take the form of a beautiful maiden, but those breeds have specifically leaned into that mutation for evolutionary benefit. Others are far more aquatic in appearance with webbed clawed hands, feathering gills on their necks, and scales covering their entire bodies.

Mermaids travel in pods. The size of these pods can range from 3 to 300. They hunt in an organized fashion, communicating in a series of clicks and songs to hunt down fish, fisherman, octopus, and seafaring birds.
